Significant Icestorm for Western North Carolina into Western Virginia

As the storm hits on Wednesday, cold air damming up against east slopes of the southern Appalachians will be cold enough for a significant icestorm to occur Wednesday morning from the Piedmont of North Carolina into the Shenandoah Valley of western Virginia. Ice accumulations can be as high as a half ice in many areas. This will result in dangerous travel conditions and perhaps extended power outages due to wires coming down. While temperatures in the morning will be around 28-32, it should warm in the afternoon above freezing ending the threat of ice. I am showing the NAM as a good indicator of where ice may occur.
